Kindergarten Curriculum Resources

Teaching kindergarten can be so fun, but also chaotic! Littles can be hyper. They need activity -based learning mixed in with workbooks. I am a believer in workbooks for kindergarten. Kindergarteners are more than able to learn how to write, add, and read. That being said, they also need to play! During work time, incorporate multiple breaks to help keep the student focused.

Learning can be fun! Use learning activities to teach and enforce lessons. Workbooks aren’t the end all, be all. Learning through play can be the best way for littles to learn! Play helps them to remember better, too.

Our children are only little for so long, so let them be little. Learn through play, go outside, and enjoy your child!

Here are some kindergarten resources I’ve come to love over the years:

Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons

This book goes through the process of teaching your child to read using phonics. It is well laid out, simple to use, and a simple homeschool tool to help your child learn to read – and read well!

Phonics for Kindergarten

Phonics for Kindergarten is a simple, easy to read kindergarten phonics curriculum workbook. It features fill in the missing letter, finding the beginning and ending letters, and has some matching activities too. It is very inexpensive!

Bob Books

Bob Books are a classic learn to read set. They start very simple with sounding out 3 letter words and progress. This is the first set. I have had several students successfully learn to read fluently using them.

Word Game

Using word games like the CVC Word Games help make reading fun. I love this tool! It allows the child to sound out each letter and blend them together to make a word. You can also mix and match letters to make new words or nonsense words!
